Every year when the weather turns cold, students in Ronald Brown Academy’s 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) put up “The Giving Tree.”  This tree stands in our front lobby, not decorated for Christmas with lights and ornaments, but decorated for warmth with hats, gloves, scarves, and socks for children in need.  The 21st CCLC’s Youth Advisory Committee coordinates this effort as one of their four annual community service initiatives.  This year, donations were solicited from outside the school as well as from within.  MGM Grand Casino and ABC Busing Company both had a hand in donating items for our “Giving Tree.”  Ronald Brown Academy staff have generously donated as well.  We want to ensure that all of our students stay safe and warm throughout the winter season.  Students from each classroom at RBA are called down to the “Giving Tree” to receive whatever items they are in need of. The added bonus is that it provides a valuable opportunity for our 21st CCLC students to participate in giving back to the community – a lesson that never gets old!
